President Tinubu Hails Dr Fene Osakwe on UK Cybersecurity Award Win

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr Fene Osakwe on being named Cyber Personality of the Year at the prestigious 2025 Cyber Security Awards held in the United Kingdom.

Dr Osakwe, who currently chairs the Lagos State Cybersecurity Advisory Board, made history as the first African to clinch the award. He emerged winner ahead of other finalists from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Netherlands, and the UK.

Recognised for his outstanding leadership, advocacy, and expertise in cybersecurity and data privacy, Dr Osakwe’s win highlights the growing global influence of African professionals in the tech space.

In a statement from the State House, President Tinubu commended Dr Osakwe’s achievements and described him as “an exceptional Nigerian and a worthy representation of Nigeria's talented, innovative, and pace-setting youth.”

The President also reiterated his belief that Nigerian youth are the country’s greatest asset, noting that Dr Osakwe’s recognition on the international stage underscores the impact of young Africans in cybersecurity.

President Tinubu wished the award-winning cybersecurity expert continued success in his endeavours.
