The Federal Government has introduced a new health insurance platform designed to help Nigerians in the diaspora support their families' healthcare needs back home.
Unveiled in Abuja by Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, the Diaspora Hub App developed by the African Diaspora Corporation (ADC) will allow users abroad to pay for health insurance coverage for loved ones in Nigeria.
Describing the initiative as a major step toward inclusive healthcare, Pate emphasized the need for the diaspora community to contribute beyond financial remittances. “We need your innovation, networks, and leadership to strengthen Nigeria’s health system,” he said.
He highlighted the app’s potential to shift healthcare financing from emergency aid to preventive care and praised the Director-General of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Kelechi Ohiri, for driving reforms in the sector.

Pate encouraged Nigerians abroad to see themselves as key players in national development, pointing to examples from India and China where diaspora contributions helped drive progress.
