Nigerian Diaspora Donates N24.5 Million to Boost Local Economy in Ondo State

Dr. Olalere Sunday Oloruntobi, a Nigerian living abroad and native of Okeagbe in Ondo State, has donated N24.5 million to support economic development in his hometown.

The generous contribution will be divided into two key areas: mineral exploration and small business support. According to the project plan, N6 million will be allocated to fund initial mineral exploration activities in Akoko North West Local Government Area. A team of geoscientists and mining engineers is scheduled to commence work on Monday, March 10, 2025, to identify potential mineral resources in the area.

In addition, N18.5 million will be disbursed to 37 small businesses in Okeagbe, with each enterprise receiving N500,000 to enhance their operations and stimulate local commerce.

Speaking on the initiative, community leader Olumide Aliu expressed appreciation for the impactful gesture. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Olalere for his generosity and commitment to our community’s development. His selfless act is a shining example of community spirit and philanthropy,” he said.

The donation is expected to create significant economic benefits, fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable growth in the region.
