Abel Aboh, a Nigerian-born expert in data and artificial intelligence (AI), has been named a judge for the 2025 edition of the British Data Awards , a prestigious annual event that honours excellence in data, AI, analytics, and technology across the United Kingdom.

As part of his judging duties, Aboh will help evaluate over 70 entries across five key categories, assessing innovation, impact, collaboration, and value creation. The awards attract more than 400 submissions each year from leading companies, universities, and public institutions, highlighting outstanding achievements in the data and tech space

Aboh joins an esteemed panel of judges that includes top industry leaders such as Di Mayze (Chief Data & AI Officer, Marks & Spencer), Lucy Vickers (Chief Data Officer, UK Department of Health & Social Care), Miryem Salah (Chief Data Officer, Vodafone), Caroline Carruthers (CEO, Carruthers & Jackson), and Nick Sawyer (Global Data Officer, Dr. Martens). The panel reflects the broad relevance of data and AI across sectors like finance, health, defence, retail, and technology.

With nearly two decades of experience, Aboh has worked with prominent organisations including the Bank of England, HSBC, EasyJet, Standard Life Aberdeen, BAE Systems, and the London 2012 Olympics. Renowned for his expertise in data strategy, AI governance, and digital transformation, he has received multiple industry honours—among them, a place in the UK Data Hall of Fame and recognition from Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for his global impact. He was also a finalist for “Data Leader of the Year” at the British Data Awards in 2021.

Outside the boardroom, Aboh is deeply committed to mentorship and community development. He serves on the board of The Data Lab Scotland, is a committee member of the Law Society of Scotland, and advises DataKirk, a social enterprise promoting diversity and inclusion in data and AI fields.

His appointment to the British Data Awards 2025 panel underscores both his remarkable achievements and the increasing demand for thought leadership in the ever-evolving world of data and artificial intelligence.
