Nigerian-Born Elected Governor of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation

Chinedu Okoro, popularly known as Larry Popo, has been elected as the Governor of the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom.


Okoro, originally from Uvuru in the Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria, secured the position in a closely watched election, marking a significant milestone for the Nigerian diaspora in the UK.


In his first address after the election, Okoro expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received and outlined his vision for the future of the Trust. His leadership will play a crucial role in shaping healthcare services, ensuring accountability, and representing the interests of patients, staff, and the broader community.

The Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for delivering mental health, intellectual disability, and community healthcare services across the East Midlands. As Governor, Okoro is expected to contribute to strategic planning and drive improvements in patient care.
