NiDCOM Resolves 1,000 Petitions, Celebrates 5 Years of Impact


The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has marked its fifth anniversary with the resolution of over 1,000 petitions from Nigerians abroad, addressing issues such as emergencies, consular challenges, trafficking, deportation, and stranded citizens.


At a commemorative event in Abuja, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, highlighted the Commission's achievements since its establishment by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2019.



She described the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on NiDCOM’s impact in diaspora engagement, including the attraction of significant investments to Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the dedication of NiDCOM staff and partners, acknowledging the challenges faced while envisioning a brighter future for the Commission.


Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, Secretary to the Commission, credited the staff's efforts for driving diaspora investment, protecting Nigerians abroad, and promoting Nigeria’s global image. Despite hurdles, he expressed confidence in NiDCOM's ability to deliver impactful services.



Former staff member Habibat Pat-Eluameh Esq voiced pride in NiDCOM's growth, hoping for the establishment of a dedicated building for the Commission. Mrs. Halima Ajagbe, Head of Administration, praised Dabiri-Erewa's leadership and reaffirmed the staff's commitment to further innovation and progress.




The event also featured an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding staff contributions, underscoring NiDCOM's dedication to resolving diaspora concerns and fostering sustained investments in Nigeria.
