The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has praised Sakinah Medical Outreach (SMO) for its upcoming medical mission, which aims to provide free healthcare services to underserved Nigerians in Abuja.
Scheduled to take place from February 16th to 21st, 2025, at the National Hospital Abuja, the mission will offer critical medical procedures, including kidney stone surgery, laparoscopic urology, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy, hernia repairs, lipoma removal, circumcisions, and more. Over 100 beneficiaries are expected to receive treatment.
In a statement by NIDCOM spokesperson Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Commission’s Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended SMO’s dedication to humanitarian service, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to compassion, care, and love, in line with Islamic values.

Sakinah Medical Outreach has been providing free medical care for 16 years, benefiting over 13,000 Nigerians both locally and internationally. This year, medical professionals from abroad will join their Nigerian counterparts to carry out the procedures as part of a collaborative humanitarian effort.
Chairman of SMO, Dr. Yusuf Salman, reaffirmed the mission’s core goal:
“We believe every human life is precious and deserves access to quality healthcare. Our goal is to make a positive impact and bring joy to our beneficiaries and their families.”
NIDCOM urged other organizations and individuals to support this noble cause, stressing the importance of collective efforts in improving healthcare access for vulnerable communities.
The outreach is being carried out in partnership with Medics Across Continents (MAC) and the National Hospital Abuja, ensuring the provision of essential medical services to those in need.
