The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated 22-year-old Zuriel Oduwole on her nomination for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize by three distinguished institutions.
In a heartfelt message, Dabiri-Erewa expressed immense joy over the recognition, stating that it was no surprise given Zuriel’s tireless efforts in advocating for girls’ education across Africa and the Caribbean, as well as her peace mediation initiatives in South America and the Middle East.
She expressed confidence that Oduwole, through her determination, zeal, and passion, has a strong chance of securing the prestigious award. She further urged Nigerian youths to draw inspiration from Zuriel’s impactful work and to steer clear of actions that could tarnish the country’s image.

Zuriel’s nomination was put forward by:
A Professor of Clinical Education Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC),
An Emeritus Professor of Social Science from the University of Missouri,
A Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This recognition is the culmination of 12 years of dedication to making a tangible difference in the world. Over the years, Zuriel has been honored with several notable awards, including the Forbes Leadership Award, the CARE Global Impact Award, and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon Award.
Her work has led her to one-on-one meetings with 36 Presidents and Prime Ministers, where she has explored and proposed solutions to pressing global socio-economic challenges.
Born in Los Angeles, California, in 2002, Zuriel comes from a lineage of resilience and excellence. Her grandfather, Dr. Michael Oduwole, left Nigeria for Scotland in 1954 to pursue a medical career, where her father, Ademola Oduwole, was born before eventually relocating to the U.S. in 1991.
