The National Association of Nigerian Students in the Diaspora (NANS-D) has formally alerted key government officials, including the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, about the expiration of the tenure of its current executive body.
In a statement released by the Chairman of the NANS-D Electoral Committee, Chibuike Divine, it was confirmed that the leadership of Juwon Chris Fayomi officially ended in March 2025, in line with the association’s constitutional provision for a single term.
Divine emphasized that no elections have been conducted to appoint a new executive team and warned that no individual should be recognized as NANS-Diaspora president until due process is followed. He also urged the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, and other relevant bodies to refrain from engaging with individuals still parading themselves as leaders of the association.
The statement further condemned attempts by Fayomi and others to extend their tenure unlawfully, noting it violates the organization's constitution and undermines its democratic principles.

“It is crucial for all relevant authorities to dissociate from such individuals who no longer represent the interests of Nigerian students in the Diaspora,” the committee stated
