Lagos State Partners with HERhealthEQ to Boost Maternal Healthcare

The Lagos State Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), led by Special Adviser Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih and Permanent Secretary Mrs. Kaphayah Sarumi, has welcomed Ms. Marissa Fayer, CEO and Founder of HERhealthEQ, to the state in a strategic move to enhance maternal healthcare.

HERhealthEQ, a New York-based non-profit organization, donated 10 Butterfly iQ+ handheld ultrasound devices to Lagos hospitals. These cutting-edge devices, designed for point-of-care diagnostics, will improve maternal health screenings, obstetric assessments, cardiac and vascular examinations, and pediatric interventions.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih emphasized the importance of technology-driven healthcare solutions in improving maternal and child health, especially in underserved communities. She noted that access to advanced diagnostic tools like the Butterfly iQ+ would significantly enhance prenatal care and overall healthcare delivery.

As part of the collaboration, Ms. Marissa Fayer joined the SDGs team on a hospital tour, visiting facilities such as Ikorodu Primary Healthcare Center, Iya-Elewa, and Gbaja General Hospital, Randle. The visit aimed to assess healthcare infrastructure and explore how ultrasound technology can be seamlessly integrated to improve healthcare services across Lagos.

This initiative aligns with the AGreaterLagosRising agenda and reflects the state government’s commitment to improving maternal and infant healthcare outcomes.
