Kenya Honours AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina for Championing Africa’s Development

Nairobi, Kenya – The African Development Bank (AfDB) has been lauded for its pivotal role in driving sustainable economic growth across the continent, with Kenya recognizing the Bank’s transformative impact on infrastructure, food security, electricity access, and regional integration.

In a special ceremony at State House, Nairobi, Kenya’s President conferred the country’s highest honour – the First Class: Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.) – on Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group.


The award celebrates Dr. Adesina’s bold and visionary leadership, which has significantly contributed to unlocking Kenya’s and Africa’s full potential and improving the lives of millions.

“AfDB’s commitment to Africa’s progress has been unwavering, and under Dr. Adesina’s leadership, we have witnessed tangible strides in development that uplift communities and deepen regional cooperation,” the statement read.
