The Imo State Leadership in Diaspora Forum Worldwide has announced its commitment to promoting cultural heritage and driving economic development in Imo State.

Speaking at a press briefing in Owerri, the group’s President-General, Sampson Udeh, highlighted the organisation's mission to address pressing economic challenges and foster sustainable growth. Representing members from over 40 countries, the forum aims to leverage the collective expertise and resources of Imolites in the diaspora.

“Having the Imo State Leadership in Diaspora Forum Worldwide, with members from more than 40 countries across the globe, is a testament to the global reach and determination of our people," Udeh said. "Our organisation is dedicated to addressing the economic challenges facing Ndi Imo and proffering solutions.”

To this end, the group is organizing a Diaspora Summit, slated for January 2025, with the theme ‘Ala Imo Ga-Di Nma’ (Imo Land Will Be Good Again). The summit will serve as a platform to discuss critical issues, including economic growth, cultural preservation, diaspora contributions, and security in the state.

“The summit will promote economic growth and development in Imo State, foster collaboration between diasporans through their leaders, the Imo State government, and stakeholders, and develop actionable strategies for sustainable progress,” Udeh explained.

He emphasized the significance of preserving Imo’s cultural heritage and traditions while mobilizing the diaspora community to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

The forum’s initiatives align with ongoing efforts to position Imo State as a hub for economic and cultural advancement. The summit promises to be a milestone event, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to shape the future of the state.

The leadership in diaspora expressed optimism that their efforts would leave a lasting impact, fostering unity and sustainable development for Ndi Imo.

The group invites all Imolites and stakeholders to actively participate in the upcoming summit.
