Diaspora Star | The Imafidons: Smartest Family in UK

Professor Chris Imafidon, a multi-award-winning researcher, internationally renowned scholar, and educational consultant, migrated from Nigeria to the United Kingdom with his family thirty-five years ago.

The Imafidons, a family of seven, have been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the smartest family in the United Kingdom.

They are known for their exceptional academic achievements, with every child in the family excelling academically and attaining one groundbreaking scholastic achievement after another, from the eldest to the youngest.

Their eldest sister, Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon, a trailblazer born on July 27, 1990, is a British-Nigerian social entrepreneur and computer scientist. In 2013, she founded and became CEO of Stemettes, a social enterprise promoting women in STEM careers.

She earned her Master’s degree from Oxford University at the age of 17 and holds the record for being the youngest person to pass the A-level computing exam.

As of February 2024, she serves as the Chancellor (titular head) of Glasgow Caledonian University.

Christiana Imafidon was honored with a mathematics award at age nine and later authored a book to help her peers with math.

At 11, she became the youngest student to attend a British university, receiving a government scholarship.

She earned eight more scholarships to top schools and is now an international speaker, recognized as a leading figure in financial technology.

Samantha Imafidon passed two high school-level mathematics and statistics exams at just six years old. She became the UK's youngest secondary school student at nine and is also a gold medalist in the 100m and 200m relays.

The well-known Imafidon twins, Paula and Peter, gained global attention at the age of eight by breaking a world record when they both passed an A/AS-level mathematics exam. A year later, they achieved another milestone by passing the University of Cambridge’s Advanced Mathematics (FAM) paper, becoming the youngest ever to do so.

This family of erudite individuals has not only achieved success for themselves as diasporans but has also proudly raised the flag of Nigeria in the United Kingdom. As a result, they have become a model family that many diasporans can look up to, admire, and draw inspiration from.
