In a bid to foster stronger connections between Ekiti indigenes in the diaspora and their roots, Dr. Adeola Adeleye-Fasubaa, Director General of Ekiti State Diaspora Relations, recently held an interactive session with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers during their monthly meeting in Ado-Ekiti.
The meeting, chaired by Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro, Ajiboyede III, Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, centered on enhancing collaboration between the Ekiti diaspora and traditional institutions. The monarchs underscored the importance of cultural preservation and encouraged diaspora parents to teach their children the Yoruba language, local dialects, and traditions to ensure generational continuity.
Oba Ilori-Faboro also urged the diaspora community to actively contribute to community development by visiting home regularly and investing in the state.
In her remarks, Dr. Adeleye-Fasubaa expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their continued support of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration. She reiterated her agency’s commitment to promoting cultural preservation and facilitating investment and development initiatives from the diaspora.
The discussion also touched on welfare issues and the maintenance of Ekiti’s traditional institutions. The monarchs offered prayers for the prosperity of all Ekiti indigenes in the diaspora, wishing them success and safe returns to their homeland.
This interactive session highlights a significant step in bridging the gap between Ekiti’s diaspora community and traditional institutions, aiming to preserve the state’s cultural heritage while driving economic growth and development.
