Abike Dabiri-Erewa Attends Unveiling of Immigration Policy Frameworks


Abuja, Nigeria – The Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa OON, participated in the unveiling ceremony of two significant policy frameworks designed to enhance the operations of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). The event showcased the launch of the Career Progression and Training Policy Framework and the Gender Mainstreaming Policy, marking a milestone in the ongoing Modernising Nigeria Immigration Service (MoNIS) initiative.


The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Government of Denmark and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), under the strategic leadership of Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Honorable Minister of Interior, and the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap (pcc, mmis, fsm).

In her remarks, Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa commended the initiative, emphasizing its significance in creating a more inclusive and effective immigration service while strengthening Nigeria's migration policies. She noted that the policies would not only benefit immigration personnel but also contribute to broader national development goals.



The Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, highlighted the importance of career advancement and gender inclusivity in building a dynamic workforce capable of addressing modern migration challenges. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Denmark and the ICMPD for their support in making the initiative a reality.





The unveiling event is a testament to the Nigerian government’s commitment to institutional reform and capacity building, paving the way for a more professional and equitable immigration service.
